December 22, 2011 - Dominium is one step closer in its plans to rehabilitate the Minnesota historic icon, the Schmidt Brewery, after receiving confirmation from the St. Paul City Council that it will receive $1.5 million in loans.

Dominium plans to convert eight of 15 acres at the brewery site, having been vacant for nearly 10 years, into a 261 unit affordable apartment community geared toward artists. The property will house a clay studio, paint studio, a media studio, dance studio and gallery.

An additional $4 million will come from the Metropolitan Council, Ramsey County and possibly the Minnesota Department of Economic Development Grand Funds.
