Development marks Dominium’s first new construction project in the state of Nevada

Dominium, a leading national affordable housing owner, developer and manager, announced that it has closed a deal to acquire land for the development of a new affordable housing community Skyline Flats in Reno, Nevada.

Dominium plans to use the land located at 5075 Dandini Boulevard to construct Skyline Flats, a new high-quality housing community for low-income families in the Reno area. Once completed, Skyline Flats will provide 402 apartment homes to the city of Reno. Planned amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center, pet park, children’s playgrounds, rooftop solar panels, 34 acres of natural open space and expansive views of the surrounding area.

Construction of Skyline Flats will be supported by the Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program (LIHTC). Nationwide, LIHTC is the largest source of support for the construction and maintenance of affordable housing communities. In exchange for tax credits, affordable housing developers and operators agree to maintain rents at levels tied to the Area Median Income (AMI). Construction of LIHTC properties has a positive effect on the local housing market by increasing the supply of affordable housing.

Dominium would like to thank its development partners, including Freddie Mac, KeyBank, Barclays, U.S. Bank, Stonehenge Capital, Nevada Housing Division, Winthrop & Weinstine, Metcalf Builders, Todd & Associates, Wood Rodgers and Commercial Partners Title.
