Country Faces Overwhelming Need for Affordable Seniors Housing Options
Currently there is not enough seniors housing being built and the states could do more to offer subsidies, according to Ron Mehl, seniors housing developer with Dominium.“Some states get it, but others are not putting the tax credits out there,” he says. “It’s just so difficult to keep with demand, but there’s such a demand out there. With tax credits, we can keep unit cost down to $900 per month, compared to the market rate of about $3,000 per month.”
