Dominium, a Minneapolis-based leading apartment owner, developer and manager, spent an afternoon volunteering in the College Park community. Dominium partnered with the City of College Park and MATTER, a global nonprofit, to lend a helping hand through a variety of volunteer activities.

Nearly 400 attendees of Dominium’s biennial leadership conference—including employees and sponsoring vendors—participated in a volunteer event. The afternoon included activities such as replacing pine straw in necessary community areas, picking up trash and debris, laying sod for an entire baseball field and soccer field and creating snack packs for local organizations in need. The College Park community is always looking for helping hands, as it is a frequently visited area in a growing region.

Before the volunteers headed into the eight motor-coach buses and fanning out into the city, attendees heard from the City of College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom and Director of Economic Development, Artie Jones III. on the impact they were about to make on the city.

“Dominium and its leadership conference attendees made a huge impact to our community. The enhancements of two sports fields, the sprucing up of our Main Street and the food share program in cooperation with MATTER was profound! These acts of generosity have, and will, impact many lives in our community and we are truly grateful,” said Mayor Motley.

Dominium prioritizes serving their communities because it lives at the core of the organization’s success. Through the Dominium Volunteer Program, employees are given the chance to donate their time to volunteerism for causes important to them in their local communities.

“As our portfolio grows in the Atlanta area, it’s important that we are an active community partner,” said Jack Sipes, Senior Vice President of Property Management of Dominium. “We know that our responsibility extends beyond creating homes- we are helping create a greater sense of community. We believe that these experiences empowers our employees help build “community” in the neighborhoods they call home.”

This volunteer event would not have been possible without the involvement of Mayor of College Park Bianca Motley Broom, Director of Economic Development for the City of College Park Artie Jones III., Main Street Manager for the City of College Park Reneé Coakley and Project & Events Director of MATTER Joy Altmann.
