Prahl makes history as the affordable housing provider’s first female partner

Dominium, a leading national affordable housing owner, developer and manager, announced today the promotion of Paula Prahl to Partner, Chief Policy and Corporate Affairs Officer & Executive Vice President. With this promotion, Prahl becomes the first female partner in Dominium history.

“Paula brought not only her functional experience but also her strong strategic problem solving and communications skills to Dominium,” said Dominium Senior Managing Partner Paul Sween. “Her promotion to Partner is well-earned and we are confident it will help fuel the long-term success of our organization.”

In her three years with Dominium, Prahl has built the company’s Government Relations capability, focused its corporate social responsibility efforts through her leadership of Dominium Gives, and strengthened relationships with key government and industry stakeholders across the country. She has played an integral role in driving Dominium’s growth; the affordable housing provider now owns and manages more than 37,000 apartment homes across the United States.

“Paula is widely respected both inside the company and throughout the industry,” said Managing Partner & Executive Vice President of Development Mark Moorhouse. “Her ability to parse complex problems and drive multiple parties toward consensus has made a positive impact on the Executive Committee. That will no doubt continue in her role as Partner.”

This is not the first time Prahl has made history at Dominium; in 2020, she became the company’s first female Executive Committee member. During her career, Prahl has also held leadership roles at several multinational companies, including Värde Partners, Best Buy and Honeywell. She began her public policy career as the director of public policy at the Minnesota Business Partnership.

Prior to her promotion, Prahl served in the role of Vice President of Public Affairs. She is one of 210 Dominium employees promoted in 2021, 116 of which were women.
