St. Paul/ West 7th Group buys part of brewery: Twincities.com

May 1, 2011 - The Rathskeller, the office building of the Schmidt Brewery, was recently bought by the West 7th / fort Road Federation, who anticipates turning the historic Schmidt office into a restaurant and reception hall. City council member Dave Thune said the loan to the federation came from citywide tax-increment financing district money. "This is a huge factor in the final turn of the key to unlock the potential of the neighborhood. We've weathered all of the foreclosures very well; there are very few vacant storefronts. We're very excited," Thune said.

The bottle house and brew house purchase is still in negotiations. As of right now, Dominium is planning on buying both buildings in the Schmidt Complex with plans to convert them into an apartment complex.
