Millworks Lofts Awarded Top Project of 2017
History holds a special place in the life of the Hiawatha Corridor, but only a few of the historic milling and manufacturing buildings remain, including the Millworks Lofts, which was the longtime home of the Lake Street Sash & Door Co.
Transforming the site — which included a three-story masonry exterior warehouse with a heavy timber frame that functioned as the main factory, along with four cold-storage sheds — was a true collaboration, said John Stark, an architect with BKV Group.
