Opportunity’s Front Door Swings Open Again
Dominium will distribute $2 million in scholarship awards in 2022
Opportunity’s Front Door, Dominium’s scholarship program, continues to grow as it enters its third year.
In 2022, we’ll distribute a total of $2 million in scholarship awards to our residents, employees and their dependents. That doubles last year’s total and means 400 students looking to take the next step in their educations will receive awards of $5000.
“It has been so exciting to see this program grow,” Senior Managing Partner Paul Sween said. “Our residents and employees are doing incredible things and we can’t wait to see what they will contribute to our communities in the future.”
Three Years of Success
Providing quality affordable housing creates the kind of stability that allows people to thrive. But we’re always looking for ways we can open additional doors.
So, in 2020, we established Opportunity’s Front Door with the goal to make higher education a little easier and more attainable for our residents and employees.
Our communities are filled with bright and motivated individuals for whom access to higher ed can sometimes be challenging. This scholarship program is a chance to link their talent with education opportunities.
“The feedback and engagement we’ve received from residents and employees has been tremendous,” said Managing Partner and EVP of Development Mark Moorhouse. “There was and continues to be a real demand for this type of program and I am very proud of the work the Dominium Foundation is doing to help our communities.”
In year one, Dominium distributed $500,000 worth of scholarship awards. We doubled our scholarship fund to $1 million in 2021, lending a helping hand to 200 Dominium Scholars. And this year, we’ve doubled our fund again.
About the Program
Opportunity’s Front Door is aligned with our larger corporate giving initiative, Dominium Gives. It is available to Dominium residents, employees and their dependents, who are enrolled (or plan to enroll) in a post-secondary college, university, vocational school, occupational training or certification program. The program is administered in partnership with Scholarship America, who review and select the recipients.
Some of our scholars have their entire careers ahead of them; others are professionals looking to expand their skillsets. Together, our Dominium Scholars represent the talent and promise of the wider Dominium community. We are so proud to be helping these individuals fulfill their education goals and every year we are blown away by their drive and ambition.
