Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places

Dominium is proud to have turned the once dilapidated Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co. building into one so beautifully restored that it’s recognized by the National Register of Historic Places and provides homes for 260 families.

Dominium saw potential in the abandoned building that was once a prominent brewing company that employed thousands of Minnesotans. We rehabilitated the property and repurposed it as affordable housing in 2014. Developing Schmidt Artist Lofts was not a simple project – it took the combination of ten different funding sources to complete it. As a national affordable housing developer, Dominium takes great pride in utilizing creative financing strategies to produce high-quality affordable housing and the redevelopment of the Schmidt Brewery was no exception.

Now, as a result of the state-of-the-art rehabilitation, the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Dominium is proud to have been part of this transformation. Check out this recent article in Forbes for more information about our rehabilitation of the Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co.
