Welcome to Shakopee
The city of Shakopee is located in the southwest corner of the Twin Cities metropolitan area, 23 miles from Minneapolis, on the Minnesota River.
Residents of Shakopee enjoy both the atmosphere of a small town and the resources of a thriving metropolitan area. Incorporated in 1857 as a booming river town, today Shakopee is the county seat of Scott County, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States.
Community is a priority to the residents of Shakopee and having a fun, welcoming, and friendly community is what they are all about.
Visit the fantastic community center with a cardio and strength training and fitness area, walking track and rotary room-perfect for your group meetings. If you enjoy the outdoors - there are many beautiful parks and trails all around the great town of Shakopee.
There is also the Enigma teen center, a fun place for teens to see live bands, play video games or ping-pong, visit with friends and more. Shakopee values their teens. Stop by and visit the Ice Arena. Built in 1995, it is open 11 months out of the year and a great place to have some fun - no matter what the weather is like outside.
A great summer place to spend your time is at the Aquatics Park. With a one acre sand bottom pool, water slides and sand volleyball, what more could you need on a warm summer day.
The city has it's own downtown central business district, regional medical center and business park and is home to regional entertainment attractions such as Historic Murphy's Landing, Valleyfair Amusement Park, and Canterbury Park Racetrack.
